Definitely a space to watch:
VACUUMSCHMELZE presents its new VACOMAX alloy at Space Tech Expo in Bremen
Hanau – For the first time, VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) will attend the Space Tech Expo & Conference Europe, held in Bremen from 17- 19 November, with its own company stand. “Europe’s largest trade show specializing in supply chains and technology for spacecraft, their subsystems and components” provides a platform for leading technology experts, company CEOs and global decision-makers in the aerospace industry to meet and discuss issues and trends.  At VAC’s stand, no. E09, the company will present products including its new rare-earth permanent magnet alloy, VACOMAX® 262. This new product features higher remanence and higher energy density than its predecessor, VACOMAX® 225.

New developments from the Cores & Components Division
The VACUUMSCHMELZE stand at SPS Drives 2015 in Nuremberg presents power electronics and new sensors
Hanau – The Cores and Components division of VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) will again take the opportunity to present its extensive portfolio of products at this year’s SPS IPC Drives; in addition to new DI sensors for higher rated currents of up to 100A and sensors for chassis mounting with new ASIC for currents up to 700A, IGBT drive transformers and common-mode chokes for EMC filters made from nanocrystalline VITROPERM® will be the focus at the company’s stand 628 in Hall 3. SPS IPC Drives will be held at Nuremberg Exhibition Centre from 24 – 26 November.

Attending for the second time
VACUUMSCHMELZE presents its expertise in motor optimisation at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg
Hanau – 2015 will be the 26th year of the SPS IPC Drives trade show. Held at Nuremberg Exhibition Centre from 24 – 26 November 2015, the specialist event spans the whole spectrum of electric automation technology. As the organisers’ website states, it presents electric automation products “from components to complete systems and integrated automation solutions”. VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) will attend with a dedicated stand for the second time. At Stand 3-628 in Hall 3, the company will display the full scope of its broadly based expertise in motor and drive technology.

VACUUMSCHMELZE launches transformer optimized for IGBT in Infineon’s EconoDUAL™ 3 Series
Hanau – VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) announces the launch of a new transformer optimized for Infineon‘s EconoDUAL™ 3 Series IGBT. The model number is T60403-F5046-X100, is IEC 61800-compliant and is presented in detail in the product brochure “Gate Drive Transformers for IGBT” (PI-IA 2). It represents further proof of VAC’s expertise in designing products that address the needs and specifications of its customers and partners from the start of the development process.

Record-breaking flight by Solar Impulse 2 – with the help of advanced materials from VACUUMSCHMELZE
Hanau – The solar-powered aircraft Solar Impulse 2 successfully completed a record-breaking flight from Japan to Hawaii on the 3rd of July 2015. Advanced materials from VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) played a major role in achieving the record for the world’s longest non-stop solar-powered solo flight. The Hanau-based company is a “Special Partner”, sponsoring the project and supplying its soft magnetic alloy ULTRAVAC® 44 V 6 and permanent magnet material VACODYM® 655 HR for the development of the aircraft. VAC is therefore helping to shape the future and write a new chapter in the history of manned flight.

Power chokes, transformers and inductors
Advanced materials for a mobile future – VACUUMSCHMELZE again presents its expertise at the VDI “Electronics in Vehicles” congress in Baden-Baden
Hanau – VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) is again an exhibitor at this year's "Electronics in Vehicles" (ELIV) congress of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), held in Baden-Baden. Occupying stand 64 at the congress, the Hanau-based company will present its expertise in advanced materials for the automotive sector, primarily for next generation motor and drive systems. In its 17th year, the VDI congress is a communication platform where vehicle manufacturers and suppliers can exchange ideas and experiences, and will be held on the 14th and 15th of October.

Magnetocalorics – technology of the future
VACUUMSCHMELZE debuted its new alloy CALORIVAC at CWIEME Berlin
Hanau – At this year’s CWIEME Berlin (5th to 7th May), VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) premiered its new family of CALORIVAC® alloys. The rare earth alloy was showcased at VAC’s Stand F24 in Hall H1.1. This new technology from VAC is primarily a production-ready alternative to synthetic coolants which increase the greenhouse effect and can be the cause of environmental problems.

CWIEME Berlin 2015:
Motors move into the fast lane with advanced materials from VACUUMSCHMELZE
Hanau – The 19th CWIEME in Berlin took place this year and VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) was there from 5th to 7th May, welcoming visitors to Stand F24 in Hall H1.1. The main area of focus on the stand was motor optimisation, with potential applications ranging from industrial operations to motor racing. VAC's portfolio offers the ideal materials and processing methods for all needs in this sector, and a world record holder was on hand to deliver proof of the Hanau-based company’s expertise: the electric racing car built by the ETH Zürich team for the Formula Student championship. In the race, «grimsel» accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in only 1.785 seconds, shattering the previous world record of 2.134 seconds. This impressive achievement was made possible with VAC’s help, including rotor and stator assemblies using laminations of VACOFLUX® 48 a mere 50 μm thick, and the complete rotor magnet system made from VACODYM®. The racing car was on show at the VAC stand, enabling visitors to examine the highly professional technical implementation of this futuristic motor concept.

VAC sensors in Nuremberg: 
VACUUMSCHMELZE presents new additions to its sophisticated sensor portfolio at PCIM 2015
Hanau – At this year’s PCIM in Nuremberg (held from 19th – 21st May), VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) will again present its comprehensive portfolio of sensors. The company’s stand, No. 119 in Hall 7, will contain proven products in addition to debuting DI sensors designed specifically for electric vehicle charging cables, as well as new models for higher rated current levels up to 85 A.

Transformers, cut cores and chokes at the VACUUMSCHMELZE stand at PCIM 2015 in Nuremberg
Hanau / Frankfurt – The Cores and Components division of VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) will again attend PCIM in Nuremberg this year. From 19th to 21st May, VAC's stand 119 in Hall 7 will focus its product presentations on transformers, cut cores and chokes using the nanocrystalline material VITROPERM®.

Simplifying certification for customers:
Three VACUUMSCHMELZE transformers receive VDE certification – New SMD transformer added to portfolio
Hanau – VACUUMSCHMELZE (VAC) announces that three of its Gate Drive transformers have received certification according to the IEC  61558 standard. The transformers which are documented in detail in the product information ‘Gate Drive Transformers for IGBT (PI-IA 1)’ are the first VAC transformers to receive VDE  certification. For VAC’s customers, obtaining certification for their devices incorporating these transformers will now be easier. VAC has also added the new 5032-X112 SMD transformer to its portfolio, also VDE-certified. The VDE certification reports can be supplied to customers on request.

Now available:
VACUUMSCHMELZE presents English versions of their current company publications on magnetic solutions
Hanau / Frankfurt – Last year, in time for electronica 2014, VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (Hanau) presented a completely re-vised version of its German language publication, “Rare Earth Permanent Magnets VACODYM – VACOMAX”. Now, the company announces the launch of an English version of its publication entitled “Magnet Assemblies VACODYM – VACOMAX”. It provides a comprehensive overview of the types of magnetic assemblies available and examples of their applications. The range of products and services extends from high-end custom built systems and prototypes to efficient mass production extending into the millions of units.

Repositioning of VACUUMSCHMELZE
As a reaction to an increasing pressure from the market especially from China VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) in Hanau intends a global repositioning with substantial changes. The corresponding plans first have to be discussed with labour representatives and IG Metall in negotiations on a balance of interests. In the course of the following four years approx. 340 of the currently roughly 1.450 jobs in Hanau could be affected, which shall be cut and partly relocated to other production sites of the company. VAC expects to secure and strengthen the location in Hanau and the remaining jobs by reaching a much better market position. On February 18th CEO Richard Boulter informed the staff in several employee meetings about background and necessity of the measures.
