VACUUMSCHMELZE Commits to Science Based Targets - Ambitious Decarbonization Strategy on the Path to Net Zero by 2050
Hanau – October 29, 2025 – VACUUMSCHMELZE (VAC) has developed a comprehensive decarbonization strategy built on two powerful levers: the systematic reduction of its own emissions across the value chain and the acceleration of global decarbonization through advanced magnetic materials that are integral to the technologies of the energy transition.
In line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), VAC has finalized concrete climate targets and submitted them for validation. These include both ambitious near-term reduction goals and a long-term Net Zero commitment:
VAC’s Climate Targets at a Glance (Base Year: 2023)
- Near-Term Target – Scope 1 & 2: 65 % reduction in direct and energy-related greenhouse gas emissions by 2035
- Near-Term Target – Scope 3: 40 % reduction in value chain emissions by 2035
- Long-Term Net-Zero Target: Net Zero emissions across all Scopes by 2050
“By uniting internal decarbonization with the external climate benefits of our technologies, we are driving meaningful change,” said Dr. Erik Eschen, CEO of VACUUMSCHMELZE. “We are reducing our own footprint while enabling significant Carbon savings through our products in areas such as e-mobility, wind and solar power. We are taking action to ensure a more sustainable future – for our customers, employees, and generations to come.”
VAC’s advanced magnetic materials make a substantial contribution to global decarbonization. At the same time, VAC is reducing its own footprint with ambitious Science Based Targets. This dual approach – cutting emissions internally while enabling external Carbon reductions with its technologies – is reinforced by a strong commitment to building a sustainable and resilient supply chain in close partnership with customers, suppliers and partners. VAC is uniquely positioned to advance the technologies that form the backbone of the global energy transition.

About the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
The Science Based Targets initiative is a global partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It supports companies in setting greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in line with climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement – particularly limiting global warming to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels. Organizations that commit to the SBTi undertake to develop and submit measurable, time-bound climate targets for independent validation. These targets must be consistent with the most recent climate science and contribute to global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and transition to a low-carbon economy.
By aligning with the SBTi, VAC strengthens its role as a responsible corporate citizen and reliable partner in the decarbonization of global industries. The company continues to invest in energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy sourcing, and sustainable supply chain practices to achieve its ambitious environmental goals.
